Troubleshoot your ProStores Template
Article ID: KB101707
This article describes some common questions that we've had from people using our ProStores-enabled templates.
How do I know if I should contact ProStores or PixelMill for help?
Answer: Basically, we can answer questions that have to do with
actually implementing the template design (getting the "look" onto your store)
but we are not experts on how to actually use the ProStores system to display
products, sell products, and track product sales. We are also not experts on how to
use the ProStores interface apart from the initial setup of the template.
So if you have questions about the template itself or setting up the template,
contact us. If you have questions about using the ProStores interface and system,
contact them.
I made changes in Design Editor and now my page layout is ruined.
When you make changes in Design Editor, ProStores modifies the header template code.
This sometimes results in the page layout being messed up -- text and content may be in the
wrong place, for example.
Solution: Re-import your header template and publish.
I try to add an image or link but get a ProStores javascript error message.
Solution: We test our templates, so chances are that the template itself
is not causing the problem. However, if you have made significant changes to the layout
with Design Editor, it's possible that something you've changed is conflicting with
the ProStores Design Editor functionality. Try making a brand new template set with a fresh copy
of the template and see if that fixes the issue. If so, start with the new template set
and be conservative in the changes that you make to the design.
My right column is being bumped below the left column on some of my pages.
Solution: Some of our ProStores-enabled template layouts are limited
in width. Most likely the layout you have chosen for the product catalog or product details
pages are too wide for the width of the template. Try reducing the sizes of your images
or choosing a different layout for the catalog or details page (you can do this by going to
Advanced Editor and then choosing Layouts in the left column).
My "about," "policies," "locations," etc. pages disappeared after applying the template.
Solution: The most common cause for those links disappearing is that when creating a new
template set, you may have gone directly into Design Studio instead of using the Design Wizard to create the
template set. You will have to start over and create a new template following our instructions for
creating a new template set. The important step is the last one where you Publish the site, as this is what
actually creates those pages for the specific template set. After doing this, you can then follow the instructions to
apply the new template design and the links should show up!
