Can I duplicate the .swf to make more versions?

Article ID: KB101647

Question: My template came with multiple Flash files (like movie1.swf, movie2.swf, movie3.swf, and movie4.swf) and they load different pictures and/or text for different pages. Can I just copy the movie and make a movie5.swf to put into a 5th page?

Answer: No, you cannot. The developer has specially created each individual movie to load a very specific file and/or text variable name. If you copy movie1.swf and save it as movie5.swf, it will still load the same picture/text as the movie1.swf file.

What you need to do is to edit the Flash source files (you will need to be familiar with Macromedia Flash and the template needs to come with the .fla files) or talk to the developer and ask them to edit the movie for you to have more versions. This may require a custom work order as it is beyond what the template provides.
