Applying a SharePoint Simple CMS Template
Article ID: KB101851
All of our SharePoint Simple CMS Templates include instructions on deploying the site template to your SharePoint server as well as instructions on creating a new site using the Simple CMS site template.
First the
Deployment document.
This document explains different ways to install and use a SharePoint Simple CMS template.
- Upload your SharePoint Simple CMS template as a site template to your root site, then use the new site template to create a new subsite utilizing this site template. This method does not require SharePoint Designer, nor does it require special access to the SharePoint server. This method can not be used to create a root site using the Simple CMS site template.
- Create a new SharePoint application and a new site collection using the stsadm.exe SharePoint Administration command line tool, then upload and apply the SharePoint Simple CMS template as the site template for your root site. This method does not require SharePoint Designer, but you will likely need your SharePoint administrator's assistance. This method will allow you to use your Simple CMS template as the site template for your root site, i.e. www.yoursite.com.
- Install your SharePoint Simple CMS template to the Global Catalog. Please be aware that if you wish to add your Simple CMS Template to your Global Catalog you will need Administrative access to your SharePoint Server so that you can use the stsadm.exe command line tool. Once the Simple CMS template has been installed to the Global Catalog then any site can use the new Site Template. Please note that you will need one SharePoint Simple CMS template license per root site that the Simple CMS template applied to, although you can create as many subsite's per Simple CMS template license.
Second the
Installation and Basic usage document.
