Renaming classes in Expression Web

Article ID: KB101736

You can rename classes (green icon) in the manage styles task pane, and not only will the stylesheet be updated, but any places in your HTML code that reference the class will be updated as well.

In this example, I have a style named "accent" which when applied will change the color of the text to red. It is listed within the Manage Styles panel.

I have it applied to one of my headings:

To rename the style, right-click on the style and choose "Rename class ----."

Renaming the class

In the Rename Class dialog box, type the new name for the class. To fix the class name in the HTML for all the pages that use it, select the checkbox, then click OK.

The diagrams below show how the style code as well as the HTML code itself have both been updated to reflect the new class name.
