Installation Error - No Themes
Article ID: KB101217
Installation step shows "no" themes/templates installing
If the installation completed, but showed no themes or templates to install, it's possible that the
installation file was not packaged correctly. Please contact support.
Note that several DWT Packages, when installed, will show "no" themes or
templates installing. However, when using the DWT Browser, you will see that the
DWT has installed correctly.
Installation seemed to complete, but cannot find the products in FrontPage
If the installation seemed to complete but you cannot find the themes or
templates in FrontPage, there could be several possibilities for what might be
going on.
- You're new to how FrontPage Themes or Templates work.
Customers who have not purchased one of our products before may have
downloaded products from other customers that are a .zip file with the
entire web site within. Our FrontPage templates work differently - the
product is installed into FrontPage folders, and you can access them by
creating a new web site using the template. See our Getting Started
tutorials to learn how to get started with our FrontPage products.
- Product is named differently than what you expect.
Occasionally the actual display name within FrontPage may be slightly
different than the product name in our catalog. For example, the Developer
may put their initials before the product name - what was "Business Blue" in
the catalog may be "AB Business Blue" in FrontPage. Other Developers may
name the templates by a sku number, such as "tb234" instead of the catalog
"Law Office" name. Be sure to skim your list of themes or templates
carefully, or contact the Developer to see what their product might be
called.
- You have a foreign language version of Windows and FrontPage.
Templates are by default installed into the C:\Program
Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033 folder. If you use a non-English
version of Microsoft Office and FrontPage, you may not have a "1033" folder.
Look for the ID number that corresponds to your language on the Microsoft
web site at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q221435. For
example, French is 1036 and Spanish is 1034.
Close FrontPage,
then open the 1033 folder. If your product came with a web template, click
into the Webs folder. You should see a folder there with the template files
for your product. Move this folder into your Microsoft Office\Templates\xxxx\Webs
folder. (See our
FrontPage Installation Locations to see the folders for various versions
of FrontPage.)
If your product came with a page template, do the same thing by clicking
into the Pages folder and move it into your language's Pages folder.
Now, open FrontPage again and go to File > New > Page or Web. In the
right column, select Web Site Templates (or Page Templates if you are going
to use a page template). The template should now appear in your list of web
templates.
- Product was packaged incorrectly.
It's less likely, though still possible, that the product was packaged
incorrectly, as we usually run each installer before placing it into the
store. In this case, please contact support.
If none of these seem to address your problem, please contact our support
team.
