Installation Errors
Article ID: KB101216
Conflicting Installer
If your product installer is on your desktop and you received an error
similar to "install.exe cannot be found" or "install.exe failed," it's
possible that there is a conflicting installer in your system. Try creating a
temporary folder on your desktop and dragging the product installer into the
folder, then try running it from there. If this doesn't work, look below for
instructions on extracting the files.
FrontPage Not Found, Installation Failed
If the installation failed because "Frontpage was not found," it is likely
that you do not have Microsoft FrontPage on your system (or the installer cannot
find it). Microsoft FrontPage is required for using FrontPage Themes and
Templates and may be purchased from several retail stores or online stores,
including the
Microsoft web site and
amazon.com. If you are sure that you have the FrontPage program, but the
installer is still not recognizing it, try extracting the files and manually
installing them following the instructions below.
Extracting Files
If you have problems with your installer, you may bypass the .exe files and extract the files manually. Right-click on the installer and select the "Extract to..." option. Extract the files to a temporary directory.
Note: If you are unable to extract the files -- that is, no menu option for extracting files comes up -- you should check that you have
WinRar. If you have WinRar, it's possible that your download was corrupted. Try downloading again or contact PixelMill support.
Now, move the files to the locations described in our
Installation Locations support article (make sure FrontPage is closed).
After copying the files to those locations, open FrontPage and attempt to use
the Theme or Template again to see if it was successful.
