Moving a disk-based web site
Article ID: KB101123
Moving a disk-based web site is very easy, as a disk-based web is
essentially self-contained within a folder on your computer. Moving the web site
is as simple as moving any other folder in your computer.
Let's say that you have a web folder called "my-web-site" in your My
Documents/My Webs folder, and you want to move it onto your desktop for quicker
access while you work on the web site over the next few days.
- Browse to My Documents/My webs/my-web-site.
- Click on the folder and hold, then drag and drop it to the desktop.
- Alternatively, you may right-click on the folder and select "Cut," then
go to your desktop, right-click and select "Paste."
If the site was a FrontPage, Expression Web, or SharePoint Designer site:
After moving the web site, you may open the site in FrontPage, Expression Web, or
SharePoint Designer.
If the site was a Dreamweaver site:
After moving the site, you may need to redefine the site or define a new site to point
to the new local web location.
