Foreign Language Characters in Flash
Article ID: KB101645
Question: How do I get my dynamic Flash movie to use foreign
language characters?
Answer:Foreign-language characters will show up in the Flash
movie only if the designer has encoded the text field to accept more
than just the basic English characters.
To test the movie, first try opening the text variables file in Notepad, then
going to File > Save As. In the "encoding" field, choose utf-8 and save the file
(replacing the existing one). Then, preview the movie and see if your special
characters show up. This works for Macromedia Flash Player 6 and up.
If they do not, then the text field probably has not been set to accept
foreign-language characters. You will need to contact the designer and
ask for a new .swf file where the text field accepts non-English characters.
