Inserting a Bookmark in FrontPage or Expression Web

Article ID: KB101238

Command: Insert > Bookmark (Ctrl-G)

You may create a bookmark very easily in FrontPage simply by going to Insert > Bookmark (Ctrl-G) and typing a reference name for the bookmark. If you have text or an image highlighted while you select this command, you'll notice that the highlighted section has a dotted line. This marks the area that is bookmarked. If you don't have anything selected, you'll notice a small flag graphic (below) is inserted in the page, which marks the location of the bookmark.

Bookmark icon

  • For best results, keep bookmark names short, with no spaces or special characters. For example, call a bookmark "products_and_services," not "products and services."
  • The dotted lines and/or the flag image will not show up when your page is viewed in an actual browser.
  • If you view the HTML, you'll notice that the code for a bookmark looks like this:
    [text that you've highlighted]
