Question: Can I use a FrontPage (or Dreamweaver or HTML) template in Dreamweaver (or FrontPage or HTML)?

Answer:

1. FrontPage to any other HTML editor, including Dreamweaver: No. FrontPage templates usually use various FrontPage-specific components such as link bars or include pages which may not work in Dreamweaver or other HTML editors.
2. Dreamweaver to any other HTML editor: Yes and no. While the code itself can be edited, most Dreamweaver templates make use of libraries or dynamic web templates which make it easier to edit the site. You will be doing yourself a disservice by trying to edit a Dreamweaver template in a different editor.
3. HTML to any other editor: Yes. Just be aware that HTML templates don't come with FrontPage include pages and link bars or Dreamweaver libraries, so you may be doing more work than necessary if there is a FrontPage or Dreamweaver version available. HTML templates can be edited in any editor, although some designs may require that you use an image editor to edit some graphics.
